David Masters D.Min.

Dr. David Masters was raised in a big Catholic family who descend from Alsatian-Lorrainian Jews, French Canadians, and indentured-servant Balearic Islanders who arrived in the Timukwa region of the Pascua Florida Peninsula in 1768. David’s Kiskeyan wife, Dayane, usually accompanies him on missionary excursions, often along with their soccer- and piano-playing sons, Rubén and Marcos. Deeply indebted to his mentors and collaborators, young David was initially trained by his parents as a door-to-door Peregrinatio Pro Christo missionary. His missionary destinations have included the Antilles and Central and South America. Dr. Masters teaches courses on the world’s religions, sacred scripture, Christology, Catholic social and ecological doctrine, human rights, genocide, peacemaking, reconciliation, missiology, ecclesiology, church history, ethics/morality, marriage and family, sacraments, and youth ministry to high school, university, and adult education students. David is active in the Iraqi Christian Relief Council, Amor en Acción, Iglesia en Misión, Misión en Acción, and the Missionalis Societas Ioannes Paulus II. David now focuses on the monumental global struggles against genocide, BDS, and female circumcision. David earned a BA in journalism, faith, peace, and justice, and African-American studies from Boston College; an MA in practical theology, sacred scripture, and peacemaking from Saint Thomas University; and a DMin from Barry University in sacred scripture and missiology. He has received accolades from Pax Romana USA (Peter Maurin Award), the Peace Education Foundation (Peace Educator of the Year), and the US Coast Guard’s Officer Snook environmental program (Water Pollution Prevention Collaborator). His previous publications include an analysis of the Miami McDuffie riot of 1980 and a chapter on Catholic doctrine regarding the indispensible role of families which he and his wife authored jointly for Pax Romana’s Study Guide on the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church. David has translated and edited articles for an online Spanish language biblical commentary website. David’s avocations are visiting manifold houses of worship, history, hiking, reading biblical commentaries, and probing the etymologies of names.

David has served enthusiastically for decades at Msgr. Edward Pace HS in Miami Gardens as a theology teacher, retreat director, and campus minister. He has likewise thrived as an adjunct professor of theology and ministry at Saint Thomas University in Florida.
