Laura Cotterman

Laura Cotterman has worked as both a professional botanist and an editor. She received an M.S. in plant ecology from NC State University and B.S. in biology from Vassar College. She began her career as a seasonal botanist/ecologist for the North Carolina Plant Conservation Program and then worked as botanist and data manager for the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program. After transitioning to editing and book and journal management, she became publications and publicity coordinator for the North Carolina Botanical Garden, where she worked from 2003 to 2014. Now she gardens, writes, travels, and explores local natural history from a home base in the North Carolina Piedmont.
