Wilrens Hornstra

I am Dutch, born in Rotterdam, but I live in Germany. I have been involved with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), the School of Biblical Studies (SBS) and other Bible courses in YWAM ever since 1988. From 1992 until 2009 I led the SBS department in Germany. I love learning; this is why I started to write: it provides me with a platform to keep learning. I have a master’s degree in both biology and biblical studies; in 2007 I earned a Ph.D. through the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies. Presently, I coordinate the network of YWAM Bible courses in Europe and I love to travel around to teach in various schools, especially the hard books of the Bible. I write a monthly teaching blog at www.wilrens.org.

I met my wife, Franziska (from Switzerland) 1995, when she joined the SBS team in Germany. We were married in 1997. Together, we host individuals in our home (Elijah’s Inn) for an intensive debriefing.
