Elijah Bell

Elijah Bell is an award-winning poet, writer and best-selling author of Love Letters from a Broken Black Man. His imagination has always been unparalleled, but Elijah actually credits his outrageous non-fiction stories and raw love poems to his unconventional background. He was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey; a place that was once declared the “Unfriendliest” city in the entire world, even ahead of the war-ridden Pakistan. However, Elijah still motivated himself to become a Broadway performer, professional vocalist, performance poet, song writer, hip-hop personality and even an ordained minister; all before the age of 14 years old. He eventually went on to become a respected social worker, government official and administrator of a juvenile detention facility. His uncanny past has set the stage for people from all walks of life to fully embrace the rhythmic emotions in which Elijah uses his clever words to illustrate. Even a tragic car accident from October 2016 in which he clinically died, twice, could not stop him from sharing his passionate thoughts with the world, while still currently trying to overcome the dark reality of paralysis. Elijah holds a B.A. in English Writing from Bloomfield College and has been awarded the coveted George E. Jones Award for outstanding creativity in English Writing. He often describes his writing flavor as a mix between the great William Shakespeare and rapper/activist Tupac Shakur.
