James Phillips aka Professor Know-How

HERE IS A LITTLE INSIGHT INTO THE AUTHOR

James Phillips (Jim) is an inventor with many skills and talents that he uses in amazing ways. He seems to be in the right place at the right time when great things happen. At the age of 23, he became the 12th member of an elite team of biomedical engineers who created the world’s first whole body CAT (CT) scanner at a Solon Ohio company called Technicare. In testing the scanner at the Cleveland Clinic, Jim helped radiologists see high resolution, three-dimensional color images of tumors never seen before by traditional x-ray machines.

In 1984, Jim invented a special perimeter security device and built a company to manufacture and market it. He has clients in over 26 states. Jim also was a broadcast personality and radio engineer. He also taught electronics to adults in the evening.

After ten successful years in business, his passion turned to philanthropy. He began his vocation by visiting neighborhood schools teaching the science of electromagnetism to middle school-age students. A devout believer in God, Jim focused on the significance of God’s first four words, “Let there be light.”

In 2011, Jim expanded his efforts to a new level by becoming a 501c3 public charity called the Technology Learning Center, Inc. His website is www.tlcfun.com.

Unlocking the secret inner workings of the gadgets kids love and use every day, he created a cartoon character and a science clubhouse called Professor Know-How’s Lab. Working with just 6-8 students, Jim found that his students not only learned the science of how all things electric work, but they also became excited about learning all their subjects. Their test scores dramatically improved.

Having worked in the very bowels of public education, Jim personally was devastated by the emptiness he saw in the eyes of children who didn’t have the opportunity to know God’s love. His plan was to take the Professor’s science clubhouse directly to families and the Church.

Professor Know-How found a unique way to introduce young people to God by engaging kids in hands-on science. Abstract concepts and forces that were once thought to be invisible amazingly came alive. It proved to be a highly effective way for them to know the Creator of all things seen and not seen.

In addition to Jim’s work at the charity, he also builds Christian radio stations that support dozens of healthcare clinics that provide free basic medical and dental care for adults and children in Uganda and Kenya.

Jim gave the ownership rights to “My Father’s Workshop” to the charity as an endowment to help young people experience the love of our heavenly Father and develop a personal relationship with Him. He did this as a legacy of his love for young people. You, too, can be part of this legacy by purchasing the book, writing positive reviews and sharing this very special book and accompanying video series on social media.
