Paolo Conrad-Bercah

conrad-bercah is the director of c-b a - conrad-bercah architects - www.c-ba.it - an architectural design office active since 2005 that has developed a plurality of projects in Europe for the private as well as the public sector.

His professional activity is fueled by his complementary drawing and writing activities.

He is in the process of publishing a Berlin trilogy - linking texts of aesthetic inquiry such as Berlin Transfert (2021) and Berlin Fragments (2019) to texts of urban inquiry (Berlin Stimmung, 2022) - and bercahaus (2020), which documents the heavy prefabrication construction process of a residential building built in Berlin using wood technology.

His drawings reflect the inevitable 'stateless' status of an author who has lived and worked in several capitals of the West - Boston, New York, Rome, Berlin and Milan - and are to be understood as a tool for design reflection. They are generally stimulated both by professional activity and by study trips, as is the case, for example, in the series l'Anticittą che viene, which in 2021 won the Prize 'Cities as Culture' held by MAXXI and the Milan Triennale.

His art work has been exhibited in Florence (Palazzo Vecchio), Rome (Acquario Romano) Berlin (Make City Festival) and Milan.

He is an architect with an international background built in Milan (Aldo Rossi and Ignazio Gardella) and in New York (I. M. Pei).

He graduated cum laude from both the Politecnico di Torino and Harvard University Design School where he held over the years (1999-2009) different roles: instructor, fellow, visiting professor
