Julia Mitchell works as an academic guidance counsellor with high school students in Regina, Canada, where she grew up. She holds a BA (Honours) in English and History from the University of Regina (2007); an MA in History from Dalhousie University (2009); and a PhD in History from University College London (2014). She has always been interested in the intersectionality of culture and politics, and particularly the mystical powers of folk music in late capitalist societies. She enjoys spending time in her garden with her partner, Joel, and dog, Elka.
