Deirdre was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, an only child and daughter of a single mother, and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. Over the years, she has lived in several states before eventually settling in Alabama. She is the proud mother of three wonderful adult children and grandmother to five amazing grandchildren. She also fondly remembers her beloved Pomeranian grand-dog, HoneyBun (HB), who now rests in doggy heaven.
A graduate of F.L. Schlagle High School, Class of 1981, Deirdre was a dedicated single parent who worked tirelessly to provide for her family. At the age of 40, she returned to school and earned her master’s degree in business administration from Strayer University—a testament to her determination and perseverance.
Deirdre has stepped away from writing under her former pen name, Petite Breaux, choosing instead to embrace life simply as herself, just Deirdre.
Under the pseudonym, Petite Breaux she authored several works, including the memoir *Slightly Bruised and a Little Broken*, the short story *The Whispering of My Heart*, and the children’s book *Fun with Grandma*.
She has also written additional short stories, as well as an adult and a suspense novelette under the name “Just Deirdre.”
In her free time, Deirdre enjoys staying active by exercising and swimming at her local gym. She loves watching television and movies and attends the theater when something captures her interest. An avid reader, she dedicates time each day to praying, reading, meditating, walking, and listening to the soothing sounds of nature to rejuvenate her spirit.
Deirdre also enjoys traveling, with cruising being one of her favorite pastimes. Embracing adventure, she has begun stepping outside her comfort zone by trying activities like ziplining and parasailing—and she hopes to go skydiving one day.
Now retired as of 2025 from her government career, looking ahead, Deirdre plans to spend more time with her family, explore new places, and possibly return to writing stories that inspire and entertain readers of all generations.
Above all, she embraces who she is and takes pride in living life authentically—as herself.
