Dr. Pete Hammett

Dr. Pete Hammett has over 25 years in talent management ranging from organization culture, to employee engagement, to leadership development, to coaching. Pete speaks regularly at business and human resources conferences and is a guest lecturer at Purdue University.

Prior to starting Hammett Consulting, Pete was the head of human resources and talent Management at OGE Energy Corporation––a regulated electric utility whose 2,400 employees serve more than 800,000 customers in Oklahoma and Arkansas. In 2011 Pete won the Chief Learning Officer of the Year award.

Pete held the position of director of client services and senior faculty at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), the world's foremost provider of executive education. For more than four decades CCL has aligned the science and practice of leadership to transform individuals, teams and organizations to achieve results that are powerful, measurable and enduring. While at CCL Pete published Unbalanced Influence, a book that expounds the paradoxes and expels the myths of executive leadership. Pete also won the 2009 Outstanding Paper from Emerald Literati Networks (Europe) for “The Paradox of Gifted Leadership: Developing the Next Generation of Leaders.”

Pete’s business experience encompasses several key positions at American Express, including vice president for operations and technology, where he was in charge of relationship management and business process optimization. While at Amex, Pete also served as director of new product development and was responsible for building the business and relationship management framework for Amex’s co-branding and affinity products.

Pete had a distinguished career in aerospace and defense (ILC Dover) where he designed the technical platform for allocating spacesuits to Shuttle flight crews.

Pete holds a doctorate of strategic leadership from Regent University, an MBA from Wilmington University, and a BS in computer science from Wesley University.
