Dr. Janielle Nordell MD

Dr. Janielle Nordell is married and has two young children. Growing up, her family had a strong focus on mission work. They served in Ecuador, fueling her lifelong desire to care for the underserved as a pediatrician. She has been privileged to serve her community in Minnesota and overseas in Cameroon and Nicaragua. Her passion is to improve the wellbeing of all children.

Inspired by her son, Isaiah, she wrote the children's reference book, "How Can God Be a Rock? A Children's Guide to Idioms in the Bible". Many children with (and without) autism are literal thinkers, and figures of speech just do not make sense. This book explains 10 idioms found in the Bible through words and pictures. It is now being used not only with families at home, but also in Sunday School, as a tool for children and adults who do not know English as their first language, and in special education material.

When Dr. Nordell is not working in the hospital or writing children's books, she enjoys volunteering at her children's school, playing flute in the MN State Band, sewing, crocheting, training for a 5K, and kayaking.
