Risa J. Stein earned her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Memphis back in the old days when it was still Memphis State University. She's worked as a psychologist in veterans medical centers, for US Air Force, and in private practice. For the past 20-plus years, Risa has taught psychology to undergraduate students at a liberal arts school in Missouri. She has authored over 60 professional articles and has been quoted in Psychology Today, Women's Health, and Reader's Digest.
Dr. Stein also holds a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership and serves as an innovation, design thinking, and creativity consultant. In addition, Risa is the founder of the very popular nonprofit mental health website, GenuineU.
Aside from Tennessee, where she completed her undergraduate and graduate work, Risa has lived in New Jersey, Illinois, Georgia, Texas, and Oregon. These days, you can usually find her at home in Kansas City with her family and their two hypoallergenic dogs.
