ANDREW BALLARD has worked as an educator, actor, and author. He is currently a standardized patient educator at the University of Virginia School of Medicine’s Clinical Skills Center, where he gets to combine his passion for education and performance. Andrew’s past work in education includes teaching theatre arts to high school students and serving as the program manager for New Voices for the Theater, a high school playwriting residency at SPARC. Andrew was recognized as Teacher of the Year for the 2020–2021 school year at Eastern View High School. As an actor, he has appeared in numerous theatrical, film, and television productions. As an author, he has written texts for performance in addition to co-authoring the The Great Big Ark in the Sky with sister, Liz Ballard Hamm. Andrew holds a B.A. in theatre from James Madison University and an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology—Social Foundations from the University of Virginia. He is currently a doctoral student in UVA’s higher education program.
