Peter Gray

PETER GRAY BIO:

Peter Gray is a Londoner and went to the University of East Anglia and Durham University in the UK before emigrating to Australia in 1973. He has a PhD in geotechnical engineering and has worked on a wide range of resources projects in Australia, the USA and Mexico. In 1998, he set up his own engineering consultancy business and has over thirty patents on new technologies, including one that is in the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.

Peter has always been an avid reader of thrillers from authors like Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlum, Frederick Forsyth, David Baldacci, Daniel Silva, Robert Harris and others. So he wanted to write thrillers of his own using his professional engineering experience, but he didn't want his hero to be a stereotypical macho James Bond, Jason Bourne, Jack Reacher type character who always beats up the bad guys then walks off into the sunset. There are plenty of these characters around already. Instead, Peter's hero, Charlie Robertson, uses his brains rather than his brawn to overcome evil characters and succeed.

The result was Peter's first thriller, Rough Cut, about a boy from London, Charlie Robertson, being sent away to Australia in the war to escape the Nazi bombing raids in 1940, but then discovering pink diamonds and overcoming great tragedy, a corrupt international bank, South African killers, and an ex-Stasi Colonel, to build a diamond empire.

This was followed by the sequel, Brilliant Cut, where Charlie Robertson's diamond business expands to the Big Apple, but wherever there is big money, big problems come with it.

The third book in the series is The President's Cut, where Charlie's daughter is kidnapped by the Russians along with the daughter of the President of the United States.

He is currently working on the fourth book in the series, The Rarest Cut.

Finally, Peter has also written two novellas, Dr Davenport and An Interview with Sir Charles Robertson where the characters in them subsequently appear in The Rarest Cut. Both novellas are FREE and availble from his website here:
