A. P. Ryding

A P Ryding (born 1959) grew up in West Central Indiana before moving with her husband to Southwest Florida. Ryding has spent the bulk of her career in the classroom. Her first classroom was the community swimming pool where she focused on students who had not found success in traditional group lessons. She later taught Broadcast Journalism as well as high school English.

The characters and plot lines for the Potowango, Indiana and Rio Sabio, Florida books came to her as she was driving the "mommy loop," which can best be defined as that circle that includes work, school, activities, and home. "Forty miles a day I drove, and I never got anywhere- other than those stops on the circle." Once her children were raised, those ideas hatched while making "the loop" took form on the page.
