Luke Ryan is an American author primarily known for his war poetry. He is the son of aid workers and spent his childhood overseas, living in Pakistan for nine years and Thailand for five.
After he his return to the US and a couple years in college, Luke joined the US Army and became an Army Ranger. There, he went on four combat deployments to Afghanistan and left as a Ranger team leader.
When he got out of the military, Luke went through a nomadic period where he lived all over the country. From San Francisco to Tampa to New York, he traveled the US many times, developing a fascination for the American road, and he worked several jobs — he was a journalist, publishing over 600 articles, a freelance videographer, and has worked professionally in television. He also received his degree in English Literature.
He now works for Black Rifle Coffee Company, where he is the Social Media Manager and an Associate Editor at their online magazine, Coffee or Die. The articles he loves to write most focus on the connection between literature and war — be it in a classic Hemingway novel, an ancient play, or the latest action blockbuster.
Luke loves to spend time with his girlfriend, and they often play with their dog and two cats. A die-hard film fanatic, Luke watches movies and shows often, old or new. He also likes to run, play music, and have long conversations over cheap drinks.
