Caron Leid

Dr. Caron Leid, PhD, is an author, counsellor, educator, researcher, and international speaker dedicated to helping families navigate Alzheimer's disease, dementia, grief, and the emotional realities of caregiving.

Her work is grounded in more than two decades of professional experience, published research, and lived experience. When her mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease at 57, Caron became a caregiver while raising her son as a single parent and completing her doctoral studies. That journey shaped her life's work.

Dr. Leid has collaborated with the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, contributed to peer-reviewed research, appeared on CTV National News, and spoken internationally on dementia, caregiving, and family resilience. She hosts the podcast Caron Talks and is the founder of FORUS™, For Our Unseen Struggles, an educational initiative that equips family caregivers and professionals with practical tools, evidence-based education, and compassionate support.

She is the author of the What They Forget to Tell You series and the BS and other Childhood Tales We Learned series, exploring the conversations many families are never prepared to have. Whether writing about Alzheimer's disease, grief, mental health, or personal growth, her goal is the same: to help readers feel informed, understood, and less alone.

When she isn't writing or counselling, Caron develops caregiver education programs, teaches, and advocates for better support for families navigating dementia around the world.
