Grace Ross

Grace Ross was born in the same hospital as her father, in Yakima, Washington, but her mother immigrated from Bolivia in her twenties. Consequently, Grace spoke more Spanish than English as a toddler. She called all meat "pollo" and would roll her "R's" when she cried. Grace also spent many of her formative years as a missionary kid in Mexico, attending public school and celebrating a traditional Quinceañera south of the Border.

Due to her multicultural upbringing and experience on the mission field, she enjoys learning and writing about language, culture and her Christian faith. Her first book, Straddling the Border: Memoir of a Missionary Kid, delves into her story as an MK and provides unique insight into the struggles of culture shock, the curveball of reverse culture shock, and the expectations placed on missionaries and their families.

She has a B.A. in English from San Diego Christian College where she met her husband. They have two children and live on the Oregon Coast where Grace enjoys the lush green mountains and fresh ocean breeze but misses authentic fish tacos and tan lines.
