John Stallcup

Born and raised in Phoenix before air conditioning, the grandson of a Cherokee cowboy. John spent his decades of corporate life as a senior executive in the new-age beverage and, later, the wine business. John's non-fiction works are about subjects he knows well. The cognitive science of wine tasting, sleeping on airplanes, and working on early elementary math reform. John's fiction K'aa Lani, Many Arrows, is based on his Summers spent in Ft. Defiance and later Chinle with his grandmother, where he joined his Diné friends fishing for bluegill in Red Lake, hiking in Canyon De Chelly, and playing in the arroyo filled with snakes and lizards, frogs, and crows. K'aa Lani is a tribute to his childhood friends in Dinétah, a magical place populated by remarkable people.
