Mindie Dittemore

Mindie Dittemore was born and raised in Michigan, where she still lives with her husband, two sons and a backyard full of animals. She and her family not only keep a mixed flock of chickens and ducks, they raise rabbits, garden, bake, make maple syrup, preserve meats, make cheese and so much more, all on a 1/4 acre!

Mindie's book Keeping Chickens: A Kid's Guide to Everything You Need to Know about Breeds, Coops, Behavior, Eggs, and More! was written to encourage and educate young poultry keepers on their journey to become chicken keepers. And while the book is geared towards children, it is packed full of useful information for beginning keepers and current keepers alike.

Mindie has a degree in History from Grand Valley State University and has worked in an educational capacity in museums, zoos, aquariums, as a 4H leader, poultry workshop host, and most importantly, as a mother. She has been published in such magazines as Your Chickens, Home Farmer, and Practical Poultry.
