Jarred Blancard

Jarred Blancard is best known for his co-starring role as Henry Bowers in the original tv mini-series, Stephen King's IT. After going on to star in other film and tv productions such as The Yearling, Always remember I Love You, and The Boys Club, he decided to turn his hand to writing and wrote his first screenplay - Under Acheron, which was shortlisted by the Austin International Film Festival.

Deciding he wanted a career change and also to get help for his alcohol addiction, he sought treatment and then went on to work at the same treatment center as a counselor. From there, he went on to found his treatment center Awakenings in Vancouver British Columbia.

After meeting his wife Fiona and having a son - Jaxon they decided to relocate to her native home in England and now reside there where Jarred continues preparation for another much-needed treatment facility in the Midlands.

The author's inspiration to write this book was his ten years of experience as a counselor and the challenges of working within the constraints of traditional AA methods. Specifically the reliance on God, and the supposed need for a spiritual awakening to be successful. What happens, he thought, to addicts who are atheists and those who aren't ready to believe in God but are ready for recovery?

Hence, The Not-So-Big-Book of Addictions Recovery.

Jarred will be releasing his first fictional novel Nighthawk Express later this month as well as a follow-up to the Not-So book in May.
