Moe Claire

Moe Claire lives, reads, and writes in Downeast Maine.

"My writing desk overlooks Frenchman Bay and Mount Desert Island. It is a view I've seen for many years and yet I never tire of it. Every day the water, sky, wind, and tides dance together in unique and often magical ways. I've been drawn to these shores as much by the people as by the beauty of the landscape. Mainers are independent, resilient, creative, droll in their humor, and proud of their history. This first time I visited some fifty years ago, I knew I was home."

Retired from a career in computer science, Moe Claire describes herself as a lifelong learner who is drawn to the natural sciences and literature. When not writing she enjoys summer and winter in Acadia National Park, is an wannabe geologist, an avid gardener, volunteers for several local non-profits, and is active in community theater. For years she and her husband explored Downeast Maine islands and harbors in an old Cape Dory cruiser, but are currently between boats. All the more time for hiking, biking, and exploring on foot!
