Elsie Barnes Phipps, born late in the fall of 1943 in rural Kentucky, grew up in a family molded by the Depression. Being the sixth child out of seven, Elsie learned that God and family, not gold, are true wealth and happiness. She grew up and married John Willis Phipps starting her own family legacy. The young couple had three children, Tony, Angie, and Sheila, and through them they were blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The memories old and new prove to be a well of inspiration for her poetry and storytelling.
