Richard D Floyd

The author, Richard D. Floyd, M.D. is the first child born after World War Two to Karl and Evelyn (Evie) Floyd. Evie instilled in Ric the determination and desire to learn and to keep moving forward. Karl furnished the genetics for Ric’s stubborn bullheadedness.

He is the first member of the Floyd family to earn a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. After a three year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he devoted himself to a wonderful and fulfilling thirty year career in Indianapolis, Indiana.

When Ric was a boy, Karl and his grandpa Ott taught him how to fish and hunt in order to provide food and money for the family. While doing so, they told him colorful, sometimes unbelievable, tales of their experiences while growing up in Rush County, Indiana. Those stories and his parents' World War Two letters, found in an old metal bread box Evie had hidden in her closet, inspired him to write his book, Come Share My Foxhole.

Ric and his wife are the proud parents of four children and eight grandkids. Ric still loves rural Indiana’s corn and soybean fields, and its hardwood forests. He no longer hunts or fishes. He much prefers to observe and marvel at the beauty of Mother Nature's imagination. He is an avid student of the Civil War, World War Two, and his family's genealogy.
