Melissa Monosoff is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has honed her skills at the top restaurants in Philadelphia as a cook, sommelier, bartender and beverage director. These restaurants include the finest in the region, such as the Fountain Restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel, Striped Bass, and Savona in Gulph Mills, PA managing a 1200 selection wine list and a well recognized beer and cocktail program. Melissa has been the Education Director for the Court of Master Sommeliers since 2013.
She earned her Master Sommelier Diploma in February of 2010; she is the 17th woman in the world to hold this title. Her passion for all things wine and beer related, have earned her several accolades. Philadelphia Magazine named her “Best Sommelier” two years in a row. Wine & Spirits Magazine recognized her as one of America’s “Best Young Sommeliers” and she was a James Beard Foundation nominee for “Outstanding Wine Service.”
In 2018 her first book “Stuff Every Wine Snob Should Know” was published with Quirk Books as part of their small book series. This book is sold world-wide and translated in to 4 languages. Also, in 2019, she published two Education Books for the Court of Master Sommeliers: The Introductory Sommelier Course Workbook which is available to all consumers on Amazon.com and the Deductive Tasting Workshop Workbook which will be available to all later this year.
In addition to her wine knowledge, Melissa Monosoff is a recognized name in the beer community having completed her Certified Cicerone in June of 2013. She is now working towards her Advanced Cicerone Certification. In her spare time Melissa is an accomplished competitive cyclist, has an love for Mezcal and other Mexican spirits, enjoys photography, playing with her dog Mariposa, and mentoring sommeliers.
In 2020 Melissa Monosoff was nominated as the Vinitaly IWSC Wine Communicator of the Year.
