Georgia "Nana" Williams is originally from Beaumont, TX but now resides in Houston, Tx and is a member of SCBWI. She has a master's degree in psychology and for years worked with children and adults with low self-esteem and feelings of no self-worth. Working mostly with adolescents during this time, she believes that the majority of the behavioral problems would have been averted if they had been addressed at an early age.
She has enjoyed reading since she was a small child. She and her sister went to the library every two weeks during the summer and checked out the maximum amount of books allowed. She is presently retired and spends her days instilling feelings of high-self esteem and self-worth in her 11 grandchildren. She exercises her creativity by writing, sewing, and quilting. She includes her grandchildren in all the activities that their busy lives allow.
Kaley Wiltz, the co-author of this book, is the third grandchild. She is a very inquisitive, kind and loving granddaughter. She is very bright, and although involved with a lot of activities at school, loves spending time with her Nana and her projects. She was very instrumental in the creation of this book, from character development to plot. The books conception, several years ago, was born from Kaley constantly saying, "I can't do it." Her acronym for NANA is Never Accept Negative Attitude. Kaley's current mantra is, "I got this." Amiyah is Kaley’s middle name and the book’s main character was fashioned after her.
YES YOU CAN is a must-read for all young readers. Instilling self-worth at an early age is instrumental to the development of fully functioning adults with an I can do anything mentality.
