Jerry S. Horton Ph.D.

Jerry Horton was born in Charleston, W. Va. September 6, 1947.

He is the author of The Shake ‘n Bake Sergeant, a true story of infantry sergeants in Vietnam and the author of Almost Heaven, a coming-of-age true story of growing up in West Virginia.

He also wrote To Be a General a biography of Walter Seymour Scott, a well-known Army soldier who was an officer in the Buffalo Soldiers for 25 years at the turn of the century.

Jerry has been a lifelong student earning a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, MBA and MSEE and BSEE.

He was a leader in his field in both electrical engineering and educational software.

He served as President and Founder of Engineering Software Associates, one of the first companies involved in Educational Classroom Software for colleges and universities.

In his professional career, he has been an engineer, business owner, entrepreneur and business broker.

He has been retired for several years and spends his time pursuing art, mainly portraits and writing.

Jerry now lives in Sarasota, Florida in the winter and Minnesota in his cabin in the summer and is married.

He has one son, one daughter and four grandchildren.
