Carol Greene was born in Vermont, the third of nine children. The family moved frequently, usually in the same county. By age 15, she had lived in 16 different houses. Always the new kids, the siblings formed a tight tribe complete with its own rituals and roles. Carol's was as the storyteller.
A favorite memory is one of gathering siblings and neighborhood children under a porch crawlspace and weaving a scary story for Halloween. At the climax, her story sent them running home in gleeful terror.
Before publishing her book, "Buttons", Carol had produced two feature length screenplays, a 3-Act stage play, and the script for a short film which she also directed. She believes that experience helped define her style of creating characters from the inside out. She writes from the most interior space of a character that can be reached while still telling a cohesive story. Key to her tales are an individual's perspective as colored by their emotional truths.
Although categorized a an YA novel, Carol's hope is that adults will take the time to read it and remember how young people see us and our choices and actions - and how it affects them.
Carol is currently working on a collection of short stories that will put the reader inside characters that range from a man who chose to change careers from detective to ME, a 4 year old caught in a house fire, to a young woman who cannot let go of her dead parents and a college student who falls in love with a woman that floats when she's happy.
