S.L. Freake

Greetings and salutations! - As one of my favourite literary characters once said. I was a young girl when I read Charotte's Web and hear her voice exclaim that phrase in her gentle - in my head - voice.

- A very young girl, my Mother taught me to read, a spell before I entered Kindergarten, in Toronto, Ontario.

In grade 4, I read a book given to me by my Uncle Chris - who was known for challenging my well sculpted reading abilities - called The Count of Monte Cristo; written by Alexander Dumas and it has also always been a favourite.

My love of reading was always nourished and cultivated and by the 6th grade, I was an incredibly well read young lady; who had also begun to write her own stories. In grade 4, I had started a well run, one girl show of a 5 page newsletter for school Staff, including a hand drawn and thought up comic strip and crossword puzzle. They thought it was great and it was encouraged until I finished at their school in the 6th grade. In middle school I was in Creative Writing programs and advanced reading. In high school, all 11 that I attended between Center Hastings, Ontario (Madoc) and the Greater Toronto Area, incl, Scarborough - I was an over achiever and baddass lol Getting into trouble, and writing and reading. Troublemaker/Nerd.

Since, I have grown up sufficiently to have sat down recently and applied what writing I have done into books and applied them to self publishing here on Amazon. My first publication is a short, emotional tale of an old man; coming of age. It was a story I did for college in Creative Writing and was encouraged to publish it when the grades came in. So I did!

The second, Stories for Stoners is a collection of very short 'stoner-esque' stories of some fictional quality and ring of truth... maybe they are truish! You decide, I also sell them personalized and signed through my Facebook page fb.com/freakesfiction

The newest, the Desdemona series; Book 1: is the first in a 10-12 part series of an LGBTQ female sleuth - Civilian Consultant/ Private Detective Desdemona Valentina; and her adventures in apprehending serial villain Eden Benedict in 1888 London, England. This first book takes a stab at a twist on an old Sherlock Holmes case called, A Scandal in Bohemia.

I am hoping to have these coming out at 10 week intervals.

That's enough about me! The last thing I guess; being my pseudo name S.L. Freake, Freake is a family name I have chosen to use. I wish to keep the different age groups of my writing separate.
