In LOST EMPIRE FOUND and THE PRINCE ETERNAL (THE ENDLING CHRONICLES, VOLUME 1 AND VOLUME 2), I wanted to capture some of the mystery and magic of growing up on the coast of Maine. The wild woodlands and countryside, the ocean, the rich history, and the fauna and flora that was such a daily part of life created a vibrant background for my imagination as a child.
Born and raised on the coast of central Maine, I was surrounded by history and a deep sense of family. I wrote the three Volumes of the THE BAGLEYS AND RELATED FAMILIES OF WASHINGTON COUNTY, MAINE, AND BEYOND because growing up, the extended Bagley family throughout New England of aunts, uncles, cousins, and more was a large part of my life as were the memories of those who were no longer here. I became interested in researching our family history as every year my Mom, Dad, and I would make crosses and baskets decorated with flowers that we would place on all of the family graves in Down East (Washington County), Maine. Those visits, stories, and old photos were the only way I knew who my grandparents and many other members of the family were. After my Mom passed away, I found a stack of notes she had made on the dates of births, marriages, and other life events of my grandparents in the family Bible. I wanted to document our family history as best I could before any more of it was lost, and while these books took many years of work to research, compile, and write, it was a joy and honor to do it in remembrance of my Mom, Dad, and all our family.
