In the winter of 2009 Jonathan took up running. He ran to get a grip on his middle aged body & his middle aged life. He very slowly trained himself to enjoy running and with that came an enjoyment of life.
To get a handle on the mental side of endurance running, he studied sport psychology.
Now a seasoned runner, he regularly runs marathons and ultras and enjoys coaching others to reach their running goals.
While not everyone wants to take up ultra-running, he is proof that it is never too late to take up exercise and you can use it to transform both your body and mind.
Jonathan’s first book, The Plant-Based Runner details his journey from an unhealthy, overweight 45 year old, to a healthy active lifestyle. His second book, From Marathon to Ultra, is a comprehensive, inspiring and actionable guide to running your first ultra.
Jonathan lives in a small village in West Cork in Ireland. He runs most days and can be contacted through his website www.jcruns.com
