For the past 40 years, at least once a month someone wants to ask Anthony Davis about The Comeback. They do not ask about his 3,772 career rushing yards or 44 touchdowns. Or his NCAA-record 42.5-yard average on kickoff returns his senior season. Instead, the only thing people ask the former USC tailback about is the Trojans’ 55-24 victory over Notre Dame in 1974 , and why is he affectionately called The Notre Dame Killer.

He is still beloved by USC fans. A booster put up billboards throughout Southern California with a picture of Davis from the game and mentioning the five national titles he won at USC (two in football, three in baseball).

In his eyes, his greatest comeback he ever participated in was not even the Infamous 1974 Notre Dame game. But In 1973, Davis was a switch-hitting outfielder on the USC baseball team in the College World Series. USC trailed 7-0 in the bottom of the ninth but scored eight runs in the inning to win the game that featured Hall of Famer Dave Winfield as a star pitcher.
