Pieter Wilhelm

Pieter Wilhelm is a Dutch national. He was born in a town in the eastern part of the Netherlands. He was a runaway teen and dropped out of technical college. Then he worked various jobs such as on funfairs. Later he cleaned and coated oil tanks on ships and in factories. He did his compulsory national service when he was nineteen. During his time in the army, he was convicted of insubordination for which he served time in a military jail. After he was discharged from the army, he was a delivery courier and sold insurance. In 2005, he immigrated to Thailand and became a language teacher in his wife's hometown of Bangkok. Pieter was born into an extremely religious family, who attempted to indoctrinate him with their brand of religion. If anything, it had the opposite effect, he became a profound atheist and later in life he became a great admirer of famous atheists such as Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. Pieter likes to travel, not only throughout Thailand but the whole Southeast Asia region, often off the beaten tracks.
