J. Louise Powell spent many years travelling and studying the world's oceans before settling down and starting a family. Though originally from the northeast U.S., she has spent over ten years living on islands and ships, and now calls the Florida panhandle her home. Throughout her career she’s been a grant writer, administrative writer, a weekly newspaper columnist, and a scientific content writer. With her husband, she now raises her daughter, her dog, her cat, and somewhere around fifteen chickens, because that's how many the insurance company says she can have.
