Rosetta Jamieson-Thomas

Rosetta enjoys writing Christian inspirational romance, historical fiction, devotionals, and self-help books. Her novels are faith-based and grounded in true-to-life situations to which her readers can easily relate. The cultural background of most of her characters is Caribbean, and their stories speak to the immigrant experience.

Rosetta’s journey as an author began on her back patio one Saturday afternoon. As a High School Teacher of English Language and Literature at that time, she had just dismissed a group of students who came to her for help with Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. As soon as the students left, Rosetta’s daughter said, “Mom, please write a story for us.”

Rosetta put a page in her typewriter and started, “Once upon a time, a girl named Deita . . . .”

She completed a single page Cinderella–type story. The kids were excited and asked for more. So she continued writing for them and page by page, the story grew up with them. Over time it became a 600-page historical romance novel. She stored the pages in two ring binders. Years passed. Then one day, her daughter dusted off the old manuscript. Together they did some editing and rewriting, and found a publisher for Centre of the Labyrinth.

Rosetta encourages and supports aspiring writers, facilitates writing workshops, and participates in her Church Outreach Ministries. She is the founder of Second Baptist Church Christian Writers’ Ministry. Roselle, NJ, and recipient of an NAACP Award in recognition of her achievements as an educator, author, and independent publisher.
