Deonna Chambers

Deonna Chambers was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She currently resides in Elm Grove, Wisconsin, with her husband Brian, daughter and son.

As a career human resources professional she spent years as a “corporate counselor”

“I spent every day trying to make sure employees home life woos didn’t ruin their professional capabilities,” she says now.

Born to a mother who was an avid reader, Deonna had never known a time that she wasn’t reading or writing. During maternity leave, she pulled out a pencil and began to pour out her thoughts and feelings onto paper. It was there, covered in milk, knee deep in diapers and starved for adult interaction that an author was born.

After her daughter and son were born, she embarked on a self-awareness journey and began to seek balance between her profession and passion. Suddenly she began to see how she could use creativity to introduce challenging topics to kids in a delicate and fun fashion.

Deonna believes in imagination, love and reality. She believes that arming our children with knowledge, compassion and empathy for others will create an environment of inclusivity and diversity.

Deonna is a member of several writers’ groups and is alumni of Howard University, the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and Cardinal Stritch.
