Larry Busch

Larry is a retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer with 35 years experience in national and international law enforcement and United Nations peacekeeping. He has a BSc in Psychology and is the recipient of many Canadian and UN decorations and commendations. He served on 3 UN peacekeeping missions and as a security advisor at the UN headquarters in New York.

At the time of his retirement, Larry was in charge of a Divisional RCMP VIP Security Section responsible for the protection of the Prime Minister of Canada, the Governor General as well as all visiting Internationally Protected Persons such as members of the Royal Family, Presidents of the United States and various Kings, Queens and foreign dignitaries.

Larry worked closely with negotiators from other countries, government officials and hostage families around the world. Larry had direct and personal access to many released hostages and therefore was able to debrief them from the rare perspective of classified political, operational, and tactical knowledge. It is from this knowledge and experience that Larry is able to write what may be the most authoritative and comprehensive book on travel security and hostage survival strategies with advice to families, employers and governments.
