On-cho Ng is Professor of History, Asian Studies, and Philosophy at the Pennsylvania State University, where he also serves as Head of the Asian Studies Department. A scholar of late imperial Chinese intellectual history with expertise in Confucian ethics, religiosity, hermeneutics, and historiography, he has published numerous book chapters and articles in flagship journals such as _Journal of the History of Ideas_, _Journal of World History_, _Dao, Journal of Chinese Religions_, _Journal of Chinese Philosophy_, and _Philosophy East and West_. His authored and edited books include _Philosophy of the Yijing_, _The Imperative of Understanding_, _Mirroring the Past_, _Cheng-Zhu Confucianism in the Early Qing_, and _Imagining Boundaries_. He is co-editor of the Book Series, “History of Chinese Thought,” National Taiwan University Press, and member of the editorial board of the Book Series, “Overseas China Studies,” Guangxi Normal University Press. In addition to serving as vice-president of the International Association of Yijing Studies (Beijing), he is associate editor of the _Journal of Chinese Philosophy_, sits on the editorial board of _Dao: A Journal of Comparative Philosophy_, and co-chairs the monthly University Seminar on Neo-Confucian Studies at Columbia University.
