Daniel Bagge

Daniel P. Bagge lives in Washington D.C. where he works for the Czech government. Still in cyber but more on the strategic and political level now, he enjoys meeting interesting people and looking at cyber space and cyber security through a multi-disciplinary lens.

Until August 2018 he was the Director of Cyber Security Policies, first in the National Security Authority and later in the National Cyber and Information Security Agency of the Czech Republic. In this capacity he was responsible for the implementation of the National Cyber Security Strategy which he co-authored, as well as overseeing the process of Critical Information Infrastructure Protection of the country. While being responsible for creation of the first national and international policies on cyber security in the Czech Republic, he founded the Strategic Information and Analysis, Education and Exercise, International Organizations and Law, National Strategies and Policies and the Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Units within the National Cyber Security Center. As part of international outreach and cooperation, he provided the expertise of his department to ACT NATO, USCYBERCOM, USAFRICOM, the U.S. Congress, Military and National Security entities in Ukraine, the Balkans and other states.

He deals with the conceptualization of threats and in 2013 was appointed as the Secretary of the Cyber Security Council, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. He is regularly invited to speak at cyber security events worldwide.

In 2015 he became intrigued by the use of cyber enabled activities to influence decision making on all levels of governance.

He holds M.A. from the Bundeswehr University in Munich / George C. Marshall Center in Germany and studied undergrad programs in the Czech Republic and Israel.

He loves to travel, read and cook, or better put - eat.
