Michael George Smith

Michael George Smith (b. 1952) was born in London but grew up in Australia where he's spent the past 50 years as a professional bass player and 45 years as a professional music journalist as well as short story writer, literary book reviewer and essayist. He's recorded with several high-profile Australian bands (including one featured in this book, albeit a footnote of sorts - but he's on the CD, so there!), toured the nation many times, performed on TV with a couple of those bands, been a spoken-word artist, MC'd concerts and festivals and had stories published in the US (on Australian rock) and Greece (short stories). How many bass players get to publish an essay on pre-WWII Greek migration to Australia in "The Journal of the Royal Australian Historical Society"? He's published four volumes of his history of Australian rock and pop - "What's Been Did (And What's Been Hid)" Volumes I, II and III Pts 1 & 2 and book of prose, "A Life In Books". He's hoping to eventually get himself hardcover versions for his library.
