Andrew Tibbs

Andrew Tibbs undertook his PhD at Durham University and specialises in the archaeology of Roman Scotland. As part of his thesis he has examined the positioning and orientation of Roman fortifications in Scotland. He regularly undertakes fieldwork on some of the most northerly Roman sites in the world, particularly those on the Gask Ridge, Rome's oldest frontier which is located in Perthshire, Scotland.

As well as on-site fieldwork, he is a specialist in the use of remote sensing techniques and the application of modern survey techniques (including the use of drones to survey and capture images of archaeological sites) to better understand the Roman occupation of North Britain. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
