Joy Oestreicher

Hello to my readers! A few details to introduce myself: I am a third-generation California native, born in the empty northeast corner of the state (Alturas). I enjoy travel, animals (especially big cats and little cats), and redwood and other forests. I have been married a long time and have offspring.

My reading & writing interests are dragons, cats, speculative fiction, science fiction, and fantasy, especially magic realism. I've never been fond of splitting hairs over categories in fiction, but they are useful when attempting to describe the areas I most often read and write in. I also like mysteries and Jane Austen, but I don't appreciate "genre romance." My husband is the romantic one in our family; I'm afraid I am unrelentingly practical, which may be why fantasy enchants me so.

Said husband and I have written three novels together and are working on a fourth and fifth.

I am proud of my world-building for Azureign, the planet I've set several works on, only one of which is published so far (Dragon & Oracle).

I've been writing since the late 1980's and have been successful in having a few shorter works accepted and published (see link below). It has also been my privilege to edit and publish poetry & short story collections by other writers, many of whom are truly amazing.
