Dr. Stacey is a veterinarian and author of cozy mysteries, animal fiction, a memoir of the Cross-Florida Greenway, and a children's book.
After nearly thirty years of veterinary practice and teaching, Stacey decided to write books as a hobby. As a veterinarian, she was inspired by how pets uplifted people. She was encouraged by stories of people who served the community better with pets, such as school counselors, librarians, teachers, and veterans. Pets gave people purpose, loyalty, trust, and unconditional love.
Stacey takes her Doodle, Penny, on weekend adventures with her family and friends. Penny is the ambassador for meet-and-greets. You may find them on the trails, kayaking the river, dining at the local dog-friendly pubs, or short walks in the neighborhood. Penny is a magnet for connection with dog lovers everywhere.
Stacey lives in Homosassa, Florida, where she enjoys spending time with friends, family, Penny, and her cat, Andy— rescued during a summer storm at her previous home in Dunnellon. When she's not loafing with her pets, she writes books, collects recipes, and cycles the neighborhood. Her hobby is to reimagine recipes that are easy, bold, and delicious with healthy fats and little sugar.
Her cozy mysteries are narrated by a canine companion for a lighter look at crime-solving in Sweetwater Springs. Daisy, the Doodle, is perceptive, insightful, and eager to lend a sniff to the subject. Her crime-solving skills bring justice to the residents of the scenic small town. The perpetrators face accountability for their crimes through the results of her canine cognitions.
Stacey writes books as Stacey Bonner Gerhart and under her maiden name, Stacey Bonner.
