M.P.A. Zeegers

Professor Zeegers (1972) studied health education, epidemiology and genetic epidemiology in Rotterdam and Maastricht, where he obtained a PhD in 2001. In 2006 he was promoted to professor at University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. He returned to Maastricht in 2012 as professor of Complex Genetics and Epidemiology. He then went onto to become Director and Head of School of the CAPHRI, the Care and Public Health Research Institute at Maastricht University, the Netherlands (www.caphri.nl).

Here he serves as full professor of Complex Genetics and Epidemiology and head of the department of Complex Genetics (www.ccge.nl) where Maurice and his team perform their scientific studies, within CAPHRI but also within the NUTRIM School of Nutrition and Translational Research in Metabolism. His personal research interest is in Epidemiology, more specifically: Nutritional Epidemiology, Cancer Epidemiology, Genetic Epidemiology, Forensic Epidemiology, Systematic Reviews and the Responsible Conduct of Research. Maurice has published over 300 scientific papers and books on Epidemiology, Forensic Epidemiology and Cancer Prevention.
