This book came to fruition after a long and frightening battle with PTSD. The most emasculating thing I have ever experienced was not being able to control my emotions, my thoughts, or my life. I was spiraling out of control and had no where to turn. As if by chance, which I now know was by design (pronounced God), I was put on a path that would not only right my problems but lead me to helping others with similar problems. The information that I was exposed to by countless others helped me to regain myself, which later developed into a high performance class. It was never my intent to develop a class or write a book, I was brought to it. The development began in 2008. My partners (Bob Carpenter and Dave Gillespie) came into the picture shortly afterwards. Our relationship blossomed into this book. A book we think is invaluable to deliver the missing pieces for instructors to develop trainees into well prepared firefighters. We identify a software gap in the educational process, this book focuses on the software skills necessary to be successful. There's a lot to digest in this book, and if your a student of the fire service you will find it very useful.

I've had the good fortune to have a 29 year love affair with the fire service. It has blessed me with many great memories, and many great friendships. While at home I work part time with first responders for a program called "ShatterProof" we deal with drugs, alcohol, PTSD and more. I am the owner and operator of a teaching and consulting company, Tactical Resiliency Training, that keeps me busy within the fire service. I am married to an incredible woman, Joanne. We have 6 kids, 8 grandchildren and counting (we don't die we multiply). We live in So Flo (South Florida) most of the year, but we have a getaway in the mountains that we frequent. The beach and mountains have a strong pull on our family. We spend time surfing, paddle boarding, and shelling when we are not hunting, hiking, four wheeling or sitting on the porch smoking cigars (yes she does) and counting our blessings together. There is life after the fire service.
