Dorothy Willman Cummins

Dorothy Willman Cummins grew up in Louisiana. She decided writing was fun after contributing to her sixth grade messily mimeographed newspaper. In high school, she fled from a shorthand class (It seemed to be in a foreign language she couldn't understand.) into the journalism class, and never wanted to leave. She was an editor of the high school paper and went to college as an English/journalism major. She edited Stephens Life, then fell in love, put her typewriter in the closet and became a Mrs.

She and the Mr. had four children and moved six times, finally to the Tulsa, OK area. They chose to build a house and barn on 10 acres near Claremore and made it a permanent home. fShe helped out in the family feed and farm supply store, raised Palomino Quarter horses to show and sell, and was the family chauffeur for countless ball games, dance lessons and horse shows.

Then she went back to her typewriter by saying "yes" to a job as trends editor for the community newspaper, later moving to the news editor desk. . Eight years later, she changed directions again to work at her church. Still, writing remained a priority and she loved writing the church newsletter as well as freelance magazine features.

After getting all those facts straight and into print for years, she thought fiction would be fun. How hard can it be to just make up a story? Her first effort, a Christian Romance titled Magnolia Monday, took years of dreaming, planning, plotting, writing and re-writing.
