Author, Educator, Artist, Animal Advocate…that’s me. In the writing of Genny’s River Day, I was able to incorporate all of those entities that define me: my enchantment with words, my training as an English educator, my love of photography, and my passion for animals. My mission in writing is a dual one. First, to encourage parents to read to their young children and to engage those children in active reading strategies; second, to encourage the adoption of rescue animals and to discourage preconceived stereotyping of those animals. I spent 28 years as an English educator; it was a meaningful career filled with wonderful colleagues and students. It was time, however, for me to embrace a new adventure in practicing what I had preached all those years…writing. Now, surrounded by more than a few rescue animals, I write stories featuring animal protagonists.
