Gretchen Petterway, MD, FAAP

Dr. Gretchen Petterway, affectionately referred to as Dr. G, Dr. Pepper, and Dr. Gretchen by her patients, has practiced pediatrics for nearly a decade. She is an author, motivational speaker, and most importantly a mom. She has witnessed an exponential rise in children presenting at younger ages with negative self-images coupled with an alarming rise in mental health related concerns especially within the first decade of life. Dr. Petterway reports suffering with a negative self-image for the majority of her life with origins deeply rooted in her childhood. It was only recently, through counseling, she reports working toward an improved self-image. As a “Doc-Mom”, she is passionate about approaching every clinical decision from two perspectives, as a physician and as a mom. One of her life’s passions has been to build a positive self-image within her sons, along with her patients, in early childhood. I Am Cool is a product of her passion and she is excited to share it with world!

Dr. Petterway, is a board-certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is married to Felton and has two sons, Dillan and David. She currently resides in Shreveport, Louisiana.
