Leah Rose grew up in suburban New York, where she romped and played with sisters and friends among the hilly, farm country north of New York City, at a time when fresh milk was still delivered to your door.
Her love of the outdoors led her to the Shawangunk Mountains near New Paltz, NY where she pursued a simple, natural life. But the call of her family background caused her to take up science studies and work as a chemist until laboratory exposures prompted a mid-life switch to a journalism career. Eventually, Rose found her way back to the more simple, natural life and meditative pursuits she had always loved.
Ms. Rose has studied herbalism, hatha yoga, Buddhist meditation, martial arts and Native American ways. These interests wind through her books, poems, songs and daily interactions.
Of "A Drink of Green," she comments, "Imagine a cancer survivor telling you he had saved his life with a dietary change after a doctor gave him just two weeks to live. And that a huge neck tumor dissolved on its own after six months on the new diet!
I was a retired newspaper journalist when a man shared this experience with me at a Florida health institute, and I felt I simply must tell others his amazing story. Deciding to present what he said in novel form, as extraordinary ideas and events have often been recounted, I embarked on an adventure of personal significance in telling not only his story but also that of my own journey into the mysterious healing powers of Nature and being true to one’s self."
Leah Rose is a yoga teacher and herbalist with a biochemistry degree. She loves nature and Eastern philosophy. She found a way to combine these interests in her novel about recovering from illness naturally.
