Tear Gas:

“My stomach would have emptied itself through my throat as well, except that my superhero power is the ability not to vomit.”

- From Chapter Five: Michigan State Police Academy

Your friendly neighborhood trooper began his career early. Having served at several Michigan State Police posts, in both uniform and in an undercover assignment, he has considerable experience in the field of law enforcement.

The author has opted to write this project anonymously. As a husband and father, friend and retired police officer, anonymity is purposed to shield his loved ones as well as those he has worked with.

In America, law enforcement stands guard upon the wall, combatting lawlessness. Our country is not entirely overrun by evil, because of those who volunteer to resist it.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing."

- Edmund Burke

Trauma & Police Officers:

This is an issue close to the heart of the author. In law enforcement, the impact of trauma upon police officers remains largely unaddressed by police agencies. A career of dealing with traumatic incidents can have devastating impacts on officers and their families. Trauma-related incidents affect frontline police officers as much it impacts frontline soldiers.

“Unchecked, extreme stress is an emotional and physical carnivore. It chews hungrily on so many of our law enforcement officers with its razor-sharp fangs, and does so quietly, silently in every corner of their lives. It affects their job performance, their relationships, and ultimately their health.”

- Lt. Col. David Grossman, On Combat

Lessons learned along the way:

True education is conceived when one begins to teach oneself.

Neither wisdom nor insight were born in the 21st century.

Those who will not learn to think for themselves, are doomed to have others do it for them.

Olives have no business in a martini.
