Dr. Robert Bruce Scott Ed.D.

Robert Bruce Scott was a National Merit Commended Student and was inducted into the National Spanish Honors Society at Great Bend Senior High School and at the University of Kansas. He was a member of the KU Honors Program all four years as an undergraduate while studying a major in English literature and minor coursework in Spanish and Biology. Scott earned a B.A. in English (1980) including in depth study of the works of Thomas Hardy and Joseph Conrad. He earned an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction - T.E.S.L. (1984) - at KU before starting an overseas teaching career that took him to Ecuador, Japan, and Saudi Arabia, eventually settling for 10 years in New York City and returning to his home state of Kansas in 2002, where he has worked as a teacher educator and advocate for students and families from diverse heritages and students with special needs over the past two decades. Scott has served as webmaster and president for both Kansas TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Kansas CEC (Council for Exceptional Children). In 2011, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of completing his doctorate in special education (Ed.D.) at Kansas State University. Dr. Scott retired at Fort Hays State University, in Hays, Kansas, and lives today in Council Grove, Kansas, with his wife, Meribel Osorio. Robb Scott has four children, who all are bilingual or multilingual, and three grandchildren, two girls and a boy. Dr. Scott is an educational consultant with expertise in TESOL, special education, and educational technology. He has managed ESL MiniConference Online (eslminiconf.net) since 2001 and recently started a newsletter called Multilingual Adaptive Systems (multilingualadaptive.net).
